Fun with grandkids

This week I had my grandkids stay with us and I introduced them to
kites. I have two NewTech kites. The eleven year old boy learned on
a "Cherry Bomb," and the sixteen year old girl used the "Desire UL."

What a treat. The boy paniced and crashed many times. I am glad the
kite is built like a tank! The girl learned a lot faster than I did.
After learning a few tricks she asked me what the next step up was in
kites. I think they are both hooked on this hobby. Every day here
they asked to go fly the kites.

For an enjoyable time, teach a young one how to fly. You will flinch,
cringe and jerk watching them do it, but it is worth it.

Being retired, I guess I will have to start saving my pennies and get
something like the "Spirit Quad." It seems to be a good kite at about
half the price of the others. Are there any other makes I should be
considering?

The first kite I had any trick success with was a Prism Hypnotist.
It's pretty robust, and lets you discover the necessary timing of giving
slack / yanking the line.
It often comes with a DVD, which also helps you get started.

Having said all that, keep saving, as you will never be satisfied until you
have a bag full of kites to cover every wind speed, and to fit how you feel
on the day.
Welcome

I have decided to try the Prism E2. Hope it works out fine.

I was kind of suprised by the lack of response of the fun of
introducing my grandkids to kite flying. Teach a young one. This is
satisfaction at its best.

I spend a couple of hours with my 7-year old on a HQ Bolero I bought him.

He was able to keep the kite in the air for 5 or so minutes at a time,
but became a bit frustrated every time it came down. I tried to let him
figure as much as possible out for himself, but helped when there was
something he couldn't figure out for himself.
