Hello All:

I need one of the Barresi vented revs and I'm looking for who sells them for
the lowest cost. Seems as though everyone is advertising them for nearly the
same price. I was Ocean Shores and Cutting Edge was really jacking up the
price, over $300 !!!! YIKES! It's a good flying kite but not worth that
much cash. So can anyone recomend a source or is this another one that I'll
need to copy?

Thanks Brian from Seattle

Midwest has them for $295.00 That seems to be about the best price I've
found.

I can't justify the cost for one of those. For a little more you can
get add a vented and UL to your collection.

I think it's hype.

Ya know I think your right. The Barresi series offers diffrences only the
pro's will notice in performance. The standared 1.5, vented, & SUL, (I have
all 3), are enough for us amature Hacks to master!

The "pros" don't need such a thing. Some fliers reach a level where they
do their own mods on a kite. I have no doubt it's a great kite. But at
$300 I wouldn't buy one. TO me that's like buying a "Mark Reed Signature
Illusion". What more could it do than the original?

Thanks for the info guys.
I have not flown a vented 1.5 other than the Barresi so maybe I should try
one of the normal ones for half the price.
I'm not so sure that I'd use a UL very much, I already have a Rev1 U/L and
just about never fly it although I had it out on 25 foot lines last weekend
in the street. "first time flying that one in about 5 years"
The thing that I like about the B series is the way the weave is sewn, it
looks like it wouldn't get baggy like the stock ones but who knows, that
stuff stretches weird anyway. Plus it flew great.
OK then with that in mind, who has the great deals on the stock revs these
days? I used to buy lots of stuff through a place called BFK, or balloon
factroy kites, but they dont' seem to be selling anything these days.
Thanks again, Bri.

Definitely. For $300 you could get a vented and a line set to go with it.

You should. SLEs need at least 6 despite what Rev claims.

Ever tried Google or Yahoo? BFK changed their name to Wind Power Sports.

Hi Kitekrazy:

Thanks for the name change for BFK. They used to beat all prices hands down
for kites.
Amongst my bags of kites I discovered that I'd picked up a 1.5 EXP
someplace, I was flying it and it's OK but it's a toad compared to my other
revs, What is the difference between the EXP and the SLE kite? Is it
different frame geometry or skin or what?

I agree that $300 is pretty steep for a kite that is so easy to build.

I did try eBay, Google, AltaVista and several other search engines but it
appears that they all are within $10 of each other so the ads are set to
keep the prices high although you know someone with no overhead must be
selling them for less.

I take it you have been out of the kiting world for some time. The
SLE has a heavier leading edge which makes the kite more stable and you
don't see that bow so much in the center.

It isn't any different than the $300 kite you claim you need or I
doubt you would really know the difference.

Yep you nailed it, 1995 was the last year we competed in any events at the
Long Beach kite festival. Most of the kites are pretty dated but still a
kick to fly.
If the SLE and EXP are similar except for a stiffer L/E spare then I'll just
play with a doubler in the center and give that a try.
I'm kite addicted again since I was flying at Ocean Shores last weekend :)
It's amazing how fast it all comes back!

When you flew his Barressi kite, it was much like the SLE.

The SLE rod probably isn't anything close to this thing you call a
doubler. Sail material is also different.

After investigating this kite, you are not just purchasing a kite for
$300. You are getting a set of handles and an extra frame and video.

http://www.windpowersports.com/kites/revolution/barresi.html $289

The Rev Barresi Series package details:

* Barresi Signature Series Revolution kite
* Stainless steel handles
* 2-wrap 1/4" UL spars
* 3-wrap 1/4" SUL spars
* Weight kit
* Kite bag
* Flight manual
* DVD training video

Basically the handles have more knots in them.

You can change the frame for wind conditions. I don't see the point in
that for a competition setting. It's just easier to have another Rev
available. You could put a Rev together just as quick as changing the
frame.

Funnnnnnnn :) I wonder why they didn't add some lines since they put in
all the other stuff. Personally, I have more quad grips than I use, I use
the 13 inch ones on everything except the rev II. It's just too darn fast
and touchy with those things.
Anyhow I've cooled my jets for the B series for right now. I'll dink around
with my EXP and see how it shapes up with modifications.
