Post by Masami TakakuwaIf you have a new record, please post it on rec.kites.
I have following site of "Chronological Tabe of Kite History.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ET3M-TKKW/history-table.html
I think the problem is with the records. We don't know who the first
human was that noticed that (say) a sisal thread kept a leaf afloat when
the wind was blowing.
In nature various spiders make kites and so on. All this happened way
before humans began recording things.
If you want to make a history of humans recording the making of kites,
fine. But I think it would be wrong to describe it as a history of
kites in absolute terms.
I know some may argue that nothing happens until it is recorded by a
human but I'm on the other side.
